Petr Grishin, CFA, is a head of macroeconomic research and Chief Economist for Eastern Europe at VTB Capital based in Moscow. He oversees and coordinates coverage of CIS/Georgia, Eastern European, Sub-Saharan African and MENA countries with regard to macroeconomics, sovereign credit, and FX & rates (where applicable). His immediate coverage includes countries of South East Europe where VTB launched trading operations in 2012. In his previous role, Petr was a senior credit analyst for CIS quasi-sovereign issuers (chiefly from Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan) he also covered hydrocarbons & petrochemicals on the credit side. Since 2008, Petr was frequently ranked in the Institutional Investor’s All-Russia and EMEA contests.
Before joining VTB Capital in September 2010, Petr was a credit analyst and the head of credit research at Renaissance Capital, covering a wide spectrum of industries from metals and mining to retail. Prior to that, Petr led municipal bond research at Rosbank (and, before its merger with Rosbank, MFK Bank). His group was named ‘Best Municipal Bond Research’ team by CBonds agency in 2004.
Petr has been a CFA charterholder since 2004. He earned a cum laude bachelor’s degree in Economics specializing in public finance from Lomonosov Moscow State University and a cum laude MA degree in Economics from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, with a focus in international finance. He is married and has two daughters. His hobbies range from sailing to history of South Slavs.
